Bill to Require Internet Captioning Brought Before Congress

Just prior to Congress adjourning for the summer in late June, Representative Ed Markey of Massachusetts introduced a bill that would require captioning for video shown on the internet.

The goal of the 21st Century Communications & Video Accessibility Act of 2009 is to make material on the internet more accessible to the special needs communities. A similar bill was voted down in 2008. Read more here on the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology website.
