You Tube Adds Automatic Captioning to Videos

In an important step that will likely improve the accessibility of video content on the web for the deaf and hard of hearing communities, You Tube has added an automatic captioning feature. This means that those who make and load videos will no longer have to go through the manual process of transcribing and uploading captions themselves. Rather, it will be an option offered by You Tube. For more information, see beet.tv’s coverage of the story.

Read With Me - Stories Signed in ASL: How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Wolfs Chicken Stew

This DVD brings to life the children's books How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Suess and The Wolf's Chicken Stew by Keiko Kasza. It's wonderful entertainment for young Deaf children and can be used in class settings to help children learn American Sign Language (ASL). The DVD can also serve as a teaching aid for adults seeking to improve their sign-language storytelling skills. Experienced, entertaining child and adult signers sign the books. Narrated in English.
